Monte Generoso is situated in the heart of a nature park known beyond Switzerland’s borders. Standing majestically on the mountain’s rugged plateau is the new “Fiore di pietra“ (stone flower).
The building was created by the famous architect Mario Botta and features picture windows that frame the breathtaking panorama. Monte Generoso is the main vantage point in the Canton of Ticino and one of the most fascinating places in Switzerland. The stunning view stretches all the way from the Apennines to the Alps, allowing visitors to admire from afar the lakes of northern Italy and the Gran Paradiso chain, from Monte Rosa to the Mt. Matterhorn and from the Jungfrau to the Gotthard Massif.
The sweeping view from the peak of the 1,704 m high Monte Generoso is unique: one's gaze ranges from the Apennines to the Alps, across valleys, lakes, towns and mountain peaks. A cogwheel train takes visitors in comfort from Capolago up to Monte Generoso, to the astronomical observatory and to numerous hiking trails and educational paths.
