Who we are

Although the company has existed since 1865 as an international transportation firm, Bucher & Company Inc. as a travel agency was founded in 1932. It has survived the years of depression and two world wars. In the early twenties, the late Mr. Othon Rast joined the company as an employee, worked his way up, and gradually bought shares. In 1963 he became the major shareholder and the company, now known as Bucher Travel Inc., was taken over by the Rast family. His son, Mr. Harold U. Rast, managed the firm for over 40 years until August 2001 and remained president of the administrative board until June 2006. Following the retirement of the president, the company was managed by the two shareholders Mr. Werner Weber and Mr. Mario Wuersch. In March 2017, the long-standing partner and shareholder Werner Weber retired from the company. Today, Mario Würsch, Managing Director, Chairman of the board of directors and majority shareholder, and Fredi Daumüller, member of the board of directors and co-owner with 25% shares, are running the company.
